The Litespeed 1.5 is my primary reel, but the following applies to all Litespeed reels. I typically use this on a 3 weight TFO Finesse rod. This is probably one of the lightest reels in existence. The machining tolerance are the tightest and smoothest I've ever seen on any reel. The hard alox coating prevents corrosion and scratching. This is a beautiful piece of jewelery, feels like a fine Swiss watch and will continue to look new for years to come. The drag doesn't stick like other reels. The drag adjustment is very precise so you can dial in exactly the amount you want. On the initial run of a big fish, this drag does not skip or stick, but is silky smooth. I have caught 20” fish and the drag was flawless. An aside....When I was at one of the fly fishing events, the Lamson Rep. was demonstrating by putting the reel in a bucket of sand, grinding the reel around, then turned the spool until all the sand was out and the reel was spinning as smooth and quite as new. This is a true large arbor reel, which means 1) better line control by having larger and more manageable coils, and 2) a faster pickup retrieve to keep the fish under control.
